Concert #1 Figura Theatre Oct 19, 20, 21, 22 and 26, 2009

Figura Theatre (Bernd Ogrodnik) is based in Iceland, where Bernd also serves as master puppeteer for the country’s National Theatre. This performance features a wonderful collection of imaginative scenarios and vignettes. A cast of intricate hand-carved marionettes and unforgettable characters are brought to life simply by hands, wooden spheres and silk scarves.

Concert #2 Project Soul Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 2, 3, 4, 2009

Project Soul is a crew of street-style dancers consisting of poppers, bboys/bgirls, lockers and hip-hop dancers. This high-energy performance showcases various street-styles including locking, popping, breaking and hip hop. For elementary students, the show is set in a school environment and is based on a character finding someone’s’ diary.

Red Sky is a dynamic company shaping contemporary Aboriginal performance in dance, theatre and music. This play is about Raven, a fabulous and magical creature of impulse and curiosity, who is obsessed by three mysterious boxes.

The Vancouver Tap Dance Society strives to be the leading promoter of tap dance in B.C. and is dedicated to promoting and developing an awareness of this art form. This talented ensemble of dancers, who range from 10 to 18 years of age, are the heartbeat of Tap.Co, which pays tribute to the master of tap and presents cutting-edge rhythm tap.
